The Beam of Hope is a radio ministry of prayer and praise, featuring Southern and Traditional Gospel Music as well as Hymns of the Christian faith. The hosts of the program are Pastor and Nadine VanRiper. The Beam of Hope can be heard on WPIT 73 on the am dial, daily from 9am till 10am EST, Monday through Friday andf Saturday 9am till noon; as well as 7:30 to 8:30 am EST on Sunday. The broadcast is done live, most of the time, which makes it somewhat interactive with prayer requests and praise reports being called in and read on the air. Also song requests are played whenever possible.
The Beam of Hope started with a one hour live program produced and aired from the studio of WPIT AM in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on Saturday September 17, 1994, at 4 PM. After seven weeks, the management of the station approached us about moving to Saturday morning for three hours. We believed God was expanding the ministry and, by faith, accepted the move. A few years later, realizing the time, energy and money we were expending driving to Pittsburgh every Saturday, we took another step of faith and purchased state of the art equipment and built our own studio. Looking back we now can see Godís hand in this move as more expansion was on the way. A half hour daily broadcast was the next step for The Beam of Hope with a one hour Sunday morning program following shortly thereafter.
The Beam of Hope is now heard around the world on the internet and gives the radio audience, in the Tri-State area, an opportunity to hear Southern Gospel music, a prayer line and a program where they can share their personal testimony. The miracle of The Beam of Hope is an entirely listener sponsored ministry. We stay on the air because of the prayer support and free-will offerings of our Big Radio FAMILY.
